The Graduate Management Association of Australia (GMAA) has awarded seven Australian MBAs a 5 star ranking for 2017, with Queensland business schools once again dominating the list.
The seven school awarded 5 stars were Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology (MBA & EMBA), University of Adelaide, University of Queensland, University of South Australia and University of Wollongong.
Wollongong makes its debut on the 5-star list while Deakin University and Latrobe lose their 5-star ranking.
The GMAA rankings provide the country’s best business schools with a means of quantifying the success and calibre of their postgraduate programs, which helps not only the institution in terms of allowing it to set benchmarks and aspirations for itself, but potential students seeking to maximise their learning outcomes.
One of the aims of the assessment is to assist prospective student in their choice of institution / program by looking at programs from two perspectives – attractiveness and educational quality.
The first perspective (attractiveness) looks to determine if a program is attractive to a student based on the facilities and features offered by the business school and the program. The second perspective (educational quality) looks to determine if a program can reasonably be expected to deliver a quality educational outcome to the student by giving them additional skills which can assist them in their current and future employment.
Griffith University Pro Vice Chancellor (Business) Professor David Grant said the five-star ranking strengthened Griffith Business School’s reputation as a highly-respected hotbed of innovation and excellence in its field.
“We are exceptionally proud to see the Griffith MBA again recognised as a market leader by the GMAA,” Professor Grant said. “The program’s consecutive five-star rankings in 2016 and 2017 are indicative of its comprehensive and progressive scope, in line with the University’s aim of fostering outstanding graduates who go on to have remarkable careers.”
“This result is a testament to the work of our dedicated staff and their drive to ensure that our graduates are well prepared to thrive and excel in the competitive, high-pressure contemporary business environment,” he added.
It’s been a stellar year for Griffith’s MBA, with the program being shortlisted for the 2017 Wharton-QS Stars Reimagine Education Awards, which itself follows further recent highlights including the program’s top-20 global placing – as well as earning the #1 spot for the Asia-Pacific region – in the Corporate Knights Better World MBA rankings.
