Torrens University MBA Director Justin Pierce will host an MBA Masterclass in Melbourne this Thursday (April 12) to offer insider tips on how students can forge their career path with passion and tenacity.
The masterclass will contain valuable advice on professional development, interwoven with the benefits found from an Master of Business Administration.
“A Master of Business Administration is an essential tool for a driven professional who is looking to make their mark in the industry,” Pierce said. “It’s been an immersive experience, and a validating one, with my studies of the MBA being my fourth degree, I was able to apply my knowledge and skills directly into my classroom.
“I have been teaching in one way or another professionally for over 22 years, and I believe it’s given my teaching style new rigour, conscious of the student and academic interaction, and the relevancy of immediacy in the industry.”
The masterclass will cover a range of topics and include helpful tips for people studying an MBA, like:
- Build your networks early. Forge your own networks and then pay it forward. That’s my sentiment for management – don’t just build connections when you need them, set aside time to establish and encourage mentoring and workshops.
- You need to enculturate yourself. Set expectations for yourself, and leave your ego at the door. You need to be open to learning rather than ready to validate what you think you know.
- Make your mark in the industry as you go. By the time you graduate, you will already be putting your new-found knowledge and confidence to very good use. Expect people to notice a difference in you and your work, incrementally and organically.
“The best piece of career advice I was given, was to write a career plan and work toward achieving it,” Pierce said.
“Bring it to your next interview to demonstrate how serious you are about traversing the corporate ladder and making your mark on the industry.
“Our aim is to deliver relevant and comprehensive business and project management postgraduate qualifications, which Chifley Business School was established upon, now supported by an internationally recognised University qualification with strong industry partnerships.
“You’ll just have to join us at the masterclass to find out more, but expect ground-breaking stuff being discussed in there.”
Torrens’ masterclass will take place on Flinders Street Campus.
Registration and participation is free.
