Australian MBAs Score Well In Latest CEO Magazine Rankings

Eleven Australian MBA programs have been awarded Tier One status in the latest Global MBA Rankings by US-based CEO Magazine. The new report also recognised three Australian Executive MBA programs and 10 online MBA programs.

CEO Magazine has released its annual Global MBA rankings each year since 2012. In 2020 the magazine received submissions from more than 160 global institutions – including 12 from Australia – representing more than 300 programs across 27 countries.

The Magazine ranks MBAs across a range of factors including Quality of Faculty, International Diversity, Accreditation, Faculty to Student Ratio, Price, International Exposure, Work Experience, Professional Development and Gender Parity.

The main ranking separates MBAs into two tiers with no numeric ranking. The Australian MBAs included in Tier One were:

  • Griffith University
  • La Trobe University
  • Macquarie Business School
  • RMIT University
  • Swinburne University of Technology
  • University of Newcastle
  • University of Adelaide
  • Torrens University Australia
  • University of South Australia
  • Sydney Business School
  • Victoria Graduate School of Business

CEO Magazine also undertakes and Executive MBA Ranking with 85 different programs ranked. Australian Executive MBAs that made the list included:

5 Swinburne University of Technology
29 RMIT University
38 University of Wollongong

Griffith Business School Pro Vice Chancellor (Business) Professor David Grant said the Griffith online MBA was ranked fourth in Australia and 16th globally.

“Ranking 4th in Australia and maintaining our Global Tier One position for another year is fantastic recognition of the Griffith MBA, which reflects the evolution of business strategy toward core values in sustainable business practices, responsible leadership and an Asia-Pacific perspective,” Professor Grant said.

“CEO Magazine’s Global MBA Rankings are an important fact-based tool to measure MBA offerings around the world, in what is an increasingly congested market.

Associate Professor Stephanie Schleimer

Griffith MBA Program Director Associate Professor Stephanie Schleimer was thrilled with the CEO Magazine ranking result.

“We believe the MBA of the 21st century must be built on values because being responsible, ethical, transparent and sustainable is the norm for business in the future and we work very hard to deliver a program that focuses on these values,” she said.

“We aim to teach students how to turn common good practices into innovative, strategic practices that set their businesses apart.
