CEO Magazine has awarded the top spot in its annual CEO Magazine Global MBA Rankings to the Australian Institute of Business.
The magazine says the rankings are designed with applicants in mind, and examine the nuts and bolts of an MBA including learning environment, class sizes, tuition fees, faculty, delivery methods, international diversity and gender make-up.
The magazine’s ranking for Australian MBA programs is shown below.

2 Victoria Graduate School of Business
3 University of Wollongong Sydney Business School
4 University of Southern Queensland
=5 Central Queensland University
=5 Griffith University
6 RMIT University
7 Deakin University
Victoria Graduate School of Management was ranked Number 1 by the magazine in 2015, but has since moved down one place, while the Australian Institute of Business was ranked Number 2.
Monash University was placed third in 2015 but did not make the list this year.
The Griffith MBA was ranked equal fifth this year, rising one place from 12 months ago.
Griffith MBA Director, Associate Professor Chris Fleming said that in the online space, the Griffith MBA remained in the top 20, now ranked 13 in the world, and number two in Australia.“With a record number of business schools involved in the ranking process, this result confirms the Griffith MBA is more than holding its own in a very competitive global environment,” Associate Professor Fleming said.
“From the program’s core values to its flexible mode of delivery to its high levels of industry engagement, the Griffith MBA continues to be a leader in the field.”
“Our focus on the changing needs of the modern student is clearly bringing benefits for all involved.”
CEO Magazine Group Editor-in-Chief, Alexandra Skinner said the awards aimed to identify MBAs which gave the greatest reward for students.
“The objective is simple: to identify schools which marry exceptional quality with great return on investment,” Ms Skinner said.
