Joint degree options

Joint degrees give postgraduate students expertise in a complementary discipline and can enhance career prospects. At JCU the Master of Business Administration can be combined as a joint degree in:

  • Master of Business Administration – Master of Conflict Management and Resolution
  • Master of Information Technology – Master of Business Administration
  • Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management – Master of Business Administration
  • Master of Professional Accounting – Master of Business Administration
  • Master of Public Health – Master of Business Administration

Students at the Townsville campus also have the option to major in Conflict Management and Resolution.

Course Structure

Students are required to complete 36 credit points including five core subjects (3 credit points each) and seven electives.

Core subjects (15 credit points):

  • LB5202:03 Marketing Essentials
  • LB5205:03 People in Organisations
  • LB5212:03 Accounting and Finance for Managers
  • LB5235:03 Applied Research Project
  • LB5236:03 International Political Economy or LB5228:03 The Changing Business Environment

PLUS

Three subjects (9 credit points) from the following:

  • LB5229:03 Economics for a Sustainable World
  • LB5230:03 Managing Strategic Resources and Operations
  • LB5231:03 Corporate Responsibility and Governance
  • LB5233:03 Innovation and Entrepreneurship

PLUS

  • 4 elective subjects (12 credit points)

Entry Requirements

The following course pre-requisites have been designed to ensure the assumed base introductory knowledge within the Accounting, Marketing and Management disciplines.

  • Completion of an AQF level 7 bachelor degree in a cognate* discipline from this or another university; or
  • Completion of an AQF level 7 bachelor degree in any discipline from this or another university and two years business experience in a managerial role**; or
  • completion of an AQF level 8 honours degree in any discipline from this or another university; or
  • completion of an AQF level 8 Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from this or another university; or
  • four years business experience in a managerial role**, to the satisfaction of the Course Coordinator; or
  • Other qualifications or practical experience recognised by the Dean, College of Business Law and Governance as equivalent to the above.
