An exciting new partnership has led Deakin University to provide Australia’s first MBA program integrated with the internationally-recognised Chartered Manager accreditation.
The Chartered Manager accreditation, recognised by Royal Charter, is the highest status that can be achieved in the managerial profession. It is considered throughout global public and private sectors as a mark of management and leadership excellence.
Deakin established the pathway partnership with the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand (IML ANZ) and as a result will embed the accreditation into their MBA and MBA (Healthcare Management).
The accreditation and partnership, thanks also to IML ANZ’s strategic partnership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in the UK, will give MBA graduates an additional professional qualification, the CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.
Deakin MBA Director Associate Professor Colin Higgins said being a Chartered Manager was one of the highest distinctions someone can earn as a manager.
“It speaks volumes to prospective employers in terms of the holder’s employability, professionalism and competence,” he said.
“Employers can have the utmost confidence Deakin MBA graduates are proven managers and leaders with the skills to manage an organisation’s most important asset – its people.
“Through our partnership with IML ANZ, Deakin MBA students would also receive complimentary IML ANZ membership for the duration of their studies, plus an additional year of membership after they graduate. This provides them with exclusive access to mentoring, networking, engagement with industry and professional development opportunities.”
Higgins said the partnership with IML ANZ demonstrated Deakin’s commitment to professionalising the management vocation, an important consideration for all industries following the controversy of the recent Banking Royal Commission and growing global economic uncertainty.

The Deakin MBA program is internationally recognised and EPAS accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development, the world’s most thorough program accreditation system for business and/or management programs.
