Governance Institute of Australia postgraduate students now have the opportunity to upgrade their governance studies to a full MBA through theAustralian Institute of Management (AIM).
The new partnership between the Institute and AIM graduates holding the Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance will only need to complete an additional six units of study from AIM’s program to be awarded an MBA.
As part of this agreement, both Governance Institute and AIM will also offer reciprocal discounted rates to members of either organisation to attend courses and events made available by each organisation.
AIM Education and Training CEO Daniel Musson said the partnership will combine the core competencies of two of Australia’s longest-running professional training bodies and provide significant opportunities for those professionals who undertake a corporate governance qualification.
“While corporate governance knowledge has become essential for senior leaders and executives in every organisation, formal recognition of this area of study has been limited until recently.
“Working with Governance Institute to provide these pathways to their graduates and members is a logical next step for AIM as we seek to improve the capabilities of managers and leaders at every stage of their career.”
Governance Institute chief executive Tim Sheehy said that as the global economy and regulatory frameworks grow in complexity, today’s managers and executives need a strong grasp of corporate governance principles to build successful and sustainable organisations.
“Our partnership with AIM will allow our graduates to complement their advanced governance knowledge with practical management skills for leading responsible and effective organisations,” Mr Sheehy said.
“We are very pleased to partner with AIM to support the career development of our members and graduates.”
